I have been told that the TK-612 toners can be used in the C6500. Is this true and if so do I need to make any modes to the cartridge?

Did you mean TN-612? If so why would you want to? They cost more than TN610.

Sorry, I'm stuck in the Kyocera mode with TK... Yes I meant TN-612. I happed to have some TN-612 but I don't have any 6501 in the field, just some 6500

If you look up close to the neck of the bottle, there are 2 tabs on 6500 and 3 tabs on 6501. Take the bottle and jam it in the machine with just a little force. Then pull the bottle out, look at the tabs, the ones that look a little dented need to be cut off. Cut it off and then your good to go.

Easier to just compare both bottles and cut out the extra tabs on the new bottle. It's less likely you'll break anything inside the machine.

If you compare 6500 to 6501 toner, there is a tab that looks the same but its hard to tell that it is actually moved a slight bit. Also I didn't mean slam it in with the wrath of THOR ;)

Got a question.....

I've always been told that the OCE 6501 uses the 3 tabs, but the IKON's 6501 does not.... I've always thought this was strange but now im starting to think its B.S. and the Ikon 6501 i was shown might just be a 6500... any thoughts on this?

TN-612 has three tabs and the TN-610 has two. The TN-612 will run in the bizhup PRO C6500 but you need to cut of the middle tab of the three.

I just ran a full CMYK set of the TN-612 in my C6500. Supposedly the C6501 has a higher yield per toner then the C6500 so I wanted to determine if it would also work on the C6500.

On the same job I was able to get ~40K out of the black with the TN-610 but only ~35K with the TN-612. The color production is equivalent using the TN-612 over the TN-610 though I think the
TN-612 was 5-10% lighter which could probably be improved with an adjustment.

I needed to increase my yield by 22% to make it worth spending the extra money on the TN-612 over the Tn-610. My results proved that it was better to stick with the less expensive TN-610 Toner.

FYI- I do run the DU-104 Drums which are intended for the C6501 in my C6500. They have a replacement interval of 300K rather then the 200K of the DU-102 drums and ~ the same in price.
