the above seem to be interchnageable as long as chip is changed. Has anyone had success with this ?

Re: c200,c253 & c353 IU
With the intro of the PPLM mod, re-chipping is time consuming and a waste of money...now the consumables run til failure. If you don't have access to KM firmware you're pretty much screwed, but that's another topic. Emujo..PS I have always been against re-rechipping as you are telling the MFP you just put in a new unit so it will try to make its CQ adjustments based on what it thinks is a new IU...how can this be anything but trouble down the road...at least with the PPLM mod, the MFP is still making decisions based on "real" info..and I apply this theory to the IU and x-fer belt only, not the fuser. If you don't see your question answered in the forum, please don't think it's OK to PM me for a personal reply...I do not give out firmware and/or manuals. -
Re: c200,c253 & c353 IU
I agree with Emujo, however, if it is a brand new imaging unit and for marketing reasons is just "not allowed" to go into a machine thats basically the same, I'd have no issues with re-chipping.
FYI, c253 & c353 use different toners and imaging units. I'd assume the difference is only the chip, but i wonder if there is any difference with the actual toner ?Comment

Earthtech, you second paragraph is exactly what I am asking. Yes thye use differnet toners but most aftermarket manufacturers supply one to cover all models. if you check out health & safety data from Km everything is the same including particle size which is what KM say is different.
I have a c253 with old colour IU,s a high mileage c353 with good colour can I swap them into? the chips have to be swapped changed.
Has anyone done this?
Alos the c353 units are 20% more than the c253.
emujo thanks for you comments, I am a KM dealer.Comment
