Tray two will stop feeding and panel will read

"Pull out Selected tray and load paper" like it wants a different size or type.

It does not say "replenish paper", either way there is paper.

I rebuilt feed unit to cover feed wheels, clutches.

I guess it could be that ridiculous sensor box or the main board.

Thanks in advance!

Try the registration clutch.

I know it sounds funny but I saw this in the solution data base and it fixed my issue.

Solution ID TAUS0801927EN* Solution Usage 2
Description
When feeding from any tray, at least 3 pages are output. After a minimum of 3 pages exit the machine, the display prompts the user to load paper in the tray.
The tray still has paper loaded. Opening and closing the tray will start the job again.

Damn I had one too.

I've seen that too some reason I thought it was "replenish"

I would look at the drawer lock or paper size sensor contacts.

Sync clutch just doesn't make sense to me.
A bad sync clutch you give a jam indicator or varying lead edge and would happen on all drawers.

A drawer that loses paper size input would stop and tell you to load correct size or reset drawer.

Tape the drawer shut and run 500 single sided while watching the lead edge void.

Just copy the front edge of the test pattern to save toner.

Run 500 after removing the tape and see if it comes back.

As always...................................

That will cost you two reams of paper and a $50.00 sync clutch.

Ive seen where the fingers on the paper size sensing unit where in between touching and not touching causing all kinds of paper sensing issues. There is an I/O test for this in service mode . In one case i had to bend the fingers out a bit so the tray would actuate the sensors properly.

Cracked paper tray? Front right corner. Install reinforcing plate 4030P00100 and replace the tray latch.

My money is on the registration clutch.

I brought registration clutch, sensor assembly and main board.

It was not the clutch. Feed one sheet and screen read "pull out selected tray and load paper".

To be sure I ran machine with one sheet in cassette and the proper message appeared "replenish paper".

Replaced the main board next and she ran all day. Didn't need to mess with that silly ass sensor box.

Thanks guys

Thats why we get paid the big bucks. Our service manuals and solution data bases are not always the final solution.
