Anybody out there have any suggestions on intermittent C-2403 faults only when it tries to turn the toner bottle to add toner. I have tried everything I can think of and I'm at my wits end. Replaced the PS28 toner bottle position sensor, the toner bottle motor, the printer controller board. Both toner bottle position sensor and toner bottle in place sensor check good in service mode. When I go into service mode and try to turn on the toner bottle motor code 56-1 or 56-2 the drive index ring turns in either direction, but the bottle won't, no matter if its latched in place with spring tension from its front door, or if I try to manually hold tension on it or try to help it along. If I try to stop the index ring while its turning with hand pressure it seems as though it has a lot of positive drive. If I really bare down on it though I can get to make some gear noise and start to slip.

I've pulled the whole toner bottle drive mechanism out 3 times and have checked the gears for missing teeth or wear and everything seems fine. I've tried
2 different toner bottles thinking its something with the bottle not latching in place and holding properly. If I manually engage it outside of the machine and
turn it by hand with the gears it seems to grab it and turn it fine. I see some gear teeth on the toner bottle, but don't see anything that it engages with on the machine and not sure if there is something missing or if its just for filling the bottle with toner at the factory. Wondering if the index ring can be 180 out. I see
a white mark on the bottom of the ring at about the 6 o'clock position and seems to allow me to seat toner bottle properly, but if I try to position that white mark towards the top at 12 or 1 o'clock can't seat the bottle. Really desperate on what else to do.

When I get that code I replace PS4 not PS28.

Regardless of what I/O says, I would do that.

Konica in all it's brilliance puts optical sensors in the toner-shit-storm section.

Ignore my post - i read you already did what i suggested ;)

btw, that entire unit is replaceable as a spare part if you cant figure out whats wrong with it.

also, where the toner bottle inserts there are from memory 3 loose fitting claws that grip onto 3 from memory small ribs on the toner bottle - thats all it uses to turn the bottle.

If you manually push in on the blue latch will the toner bottle spin? There is a spring in the latch mechanism that I have had slip off and not enough pressure was applied to bottle to keep it engaged in the drive mechanism.

I already have several bulletins #5471, #5775, #6078, and #6496 which I've been over pretty extensively.

Thanks but yes did try pushing on the blue latch with no response to make the bottle turn.

A lot of times,I have had this problem, and all the times I only clean de PS 28 (toner bottle position) with a vacuum cleaner...and problem solved...

Of course you could have a damage sensor or a fault in the PRCB

good luck

Thanks, but I already replaced both PS28 and the PRCB. The sensor or PRCB I think is ok cause I can get it to turn intermittently in service mode.
