Hi Everybody,
Was recently asked about scan accelerators for the bizhub mfp's by the sales guys, when I thought about it all I know about them is what the name implies.
Do any of you guys have them installed in your machines? Do they they make a noticable difference? I'm interested in what everybody has to say regarding them (or any other extra like card/bio authentication etc).
Cheers

I don't know much about Konica but maybe decreasing the resolution on the settings can increase the speed. :(

The Scan Accelerator is an option for some bizhubs (SA-501 - Scan Accelerator Kit for C252 for example). It was just a general question regarding their worth, i've seen one in the field on a machine that does very little scanning. I was asked about them by the sales guys and thought I'd get peoples opinion on them because I have had very little exposure to that particular option.

The SA-501 and another one I've seen has what looks like a hardware accelerator board that probably speeds up the conversion of the scan from native format to JPEG format. I suspect it will also allow control of the compression or lossiness levels.

SA-501 is basically a "JPEG board". Without SA-501, scan files using "JPEG compression" but uses"software processing", Bizhub with SA501 uses "hardware processing". Hardware processing is more powerful
