Hi Everyone,
I have been receiving an increased amount of support calls for C-1105 on C6500/01, C5500/01 with the small all in one finishers (FS607 etc)
The code starts intermittently (customers also indicate a noise from the finisher before the code). The code gets more frequent then is on permanently when the finisher initialises.
The problem is the screw that hold the idler shaft (13QE48260) is working loose. This causes the drive gears (12QR77110) to unmesh and loses drive to the exit guide plate upper. I have attached a PDF from the parts guide showing the position of the shaft.
Hope this info is useful.18589

You could try some locktite.

Sometimes I use fingernail polish for set screws and plastic screws that no longer hold well.

Not sure how or why set screws becomes a link but it was not intentional.

Hi Mandoram,
Thanks for the input.
My post was really an FYI.
A tech contacted me when the code was in the "intermittent stage"
he had already replaced in this order:
Sensor, Motor, Finisher Control Board, Printer Control Board.
By this time the machine was hard coded with the error. He then found the loose shaft.
I am hoping this post could save someone some considerable time and expense trying to diagnose and repair.
FYI i have received about six calls regarding the same error from around Australia.

that explains the technical advice report on CSES then
didnt think it was that common a problem, have only seen it once myself, granted it was last week

Yes that is correct. I published the TAD on CSES last week. I know a lot of techs on this forum dont have access to support sites.
