Am I being stupid but how the hell do you get into the service menu on a C224e?

I was going to recommend using the stylus if you were just having issues getting into service mode. Had quite a few that finger presses are not accurate enough. BTW, I spent at least 10 min looking through the service manual trying to figure out a way to "Unlock" the control panel. Never let knowledge get in the way of MFP repair. Emujo

I think all of us have had the same issues. The trick is to touch the keys slowly, rather than bang away like we did on the old mechanical keys.
I hate this new interface with a passion. They had it pretty right with the C280 & C284's but of course when you have something that works properly, you have to change it.
We, by default are disabling ce password & changing Admin password to the old one. It's a lot less frigging around with the touch panel.

I also had the same problem with the key pad, I couldnīt find it. I Think they should be more specifik with a new model arrives.

Just like C70hc. "HC" for Hard Core.

I had my first experience with the E series today.

took numerous attempts to get into service mode, but really you can get in there just as fast as with the hard keys, you just have to be accurate with where you press. No idea why they had to change it, what was wrong with the old panels ? Other than them blowing up regularly with static discharge events in certain environments.

Well if you try this sequence on the 224e you may find yourself wondering why you can't get into service mode...And they are very touchy..Emujo

I have been dealing with these for a while and yes slower is better. Also we remove the annoying 9272 CE password. I have connected a 654 that did away with the slide out screen which is the same deal with the touch 10-key pad.
