We have a unit that went down with a C4153 error code. Manual says, "Polygon motor rotation trouble (Y)". Is there anything else to check before changing the laser and then the board? Just curious if anyone has seen this code caused by something else. The unit has about 250k on it currently.

fixed same issue on another motor by tappin it to unbind the motor and issue went away since. Felt lucky about that one however.

We just swap PH with another color to check it. We have only had to do the Ph.

You could check the number 3 paper feed unit.

But it will be the Y print head.:D

once and only once i had the particular polygon motor fail so catastrophically that it blew the related icp on the printer control board.

that was an exciting day to be a copier tech - because i then had to drive back to the office and get a board when the new ph kit didnt fix it - whoa, excitement plus.

Is there a removal procedure for the laser in the service manual, because I can't find it?

been a while but lets see if I can remember, all IU out, Transfer belt out, front door to make life simpler-Some side covers have to come off then Front cover. you will then have access to Lasers, Screw and bracket needs to come out, unplug cabling to unit- move unit out carefully front first.... have fun..

the lasers aren't screwed in at all, they're held in place in locating holes front and rear by spring pressure. ;)

done so many of these now can do it blind folded. Rare to have it these days but did 2 weeks ago for the first time in 2 years. Not many of these machines left now with us.
