I am new to fiery's. I just took a fiery color introduction class last week
at KM mostly based on IC-414

I have a fiery that is having various issue like some files jobs disappearing
in CW and such.

Some info I have:
65C-KM-V1.1
EFI Fiery System 8
Bonjour service name: EFI Fiery Pro80-S450 65C-KM

Being used with a Bizhub C6500

I'm thinking this is an IC-303 but I am not sure???

Looks like it has system v1.1 and I want to upgrade to 3.0, then upgrade to
CW5.5 and update drivers.

Looks like two iso to burn to disc. I read thru the section on system and
user software in this pdf: 45086761_Service Guide Pro80 II. After installing the
system software from the disk this pdf says that I would be prompt to put in the
user software disk to complete. What is this and where can I get it. Didn't see
anything like this on the KM site.

EDIT: just noticed the user software shows an iso next to all the other system iso's. There is a v2.1 user software disk. Can I just use that when it ask me for the user disk while installing system code 3.0

Any tips appreciated

Don't know what the KM fiery # is, but a Fiery is a Fiery. System 8 wasn't too bad. You should be able to reload from a flash drive( consult your manufacturer manual) . That would require the boot loader cd to build the flash drive with the 2 disks. You should be able to get the iso's for the disks somewhere... Then load all the patches.................................. and update the machine firmware. My 1/2 cent worth..............................

Hi,
Short answer is yes. The user disk has all the applications (command workstation, hot folders, drivers etc). This makes these app's available to be downloaded from the RIP.
ENSURE after updating that all patch files are installed. This is vital to ongoing performance of the rip.
I recommend once the ststem reload and patch updates are done that a backup (using system restore DVD) is performed. A backup can be placed onto an external HDD that can be restored in the event the system need another reload. This saves an enormous amount of time.
USB reloads that are mentioned above apply to the smaller EFI rips (IC408/413). The stand alone "server" type rips (IC303/305/306) need both the system and user DVD's.

Hope this is of assistance.

Where can I get a system restore DVD to backup. Can I download from KM site because I didn't see anything labeled as such.

EDIT I think I found it. Fiery clone tools I think is what my class instructor mentioned

That is the one, apologies for calling it a different name. There is going to be a new fiery system software with the new models. There is another way to back up the server type rip. it is called system restore.

Well it all seemed to go well. Way it turns out the disk 1 was the system code and disk two was the user software. Fixed their issue too. Thanks for the help

BE SURE you do all the updates to it. Or set it up to download them and update itself. You don't want a hacked fiery hosting a porn site. (I've heard of these happening)

Nothing to worry there. Its on a network without internet.

I am also new to fiery and don't have clone tool...went on fiery ILT at konica last year and when I asked about that he said "No not allowed to use that - its illegal..." although on the forums I have seen many references to cloning..

first time I worked on one was before training - a major pain in the ass and things got way out of hand. Went on training for the c7000 and they decided to add 2 extra days to go over the IC-413 with the class and we actually worked on my Fiery. in that environment and with people that knew what they were doing. it seemed simple enough.

so two questions - where do i get my hands on a clone tool

Second question - This one I am working on now surprise surprise is AA again - I am trying to reload the system disk through Ethernet and it is timing out. I am following procedure in manual

Fiery off
both dips witches on - service mode
Fiery connected directly to laptop - all on DHCP and
Fiery IP is found on Fiery system software load tool
run system disk and followed prompts
With monitor connected to fiery I see ip connection confirmation
but then error PXE_E32: TFTP open time out - TFTP is off on client pc as instructed by manual (I have tried it on as well just to be fair - no difference)
After just leaving it for 30 min
on monitor I see TFTP.........open time out and exiting intel boot agent
and on system install tool I get socket error has occurred and the installer stops.

I will try USB method next but if you can tell me what I am doing wrong - (I know this is the easiest method from the course)
my confidence with Fiery is already rocked and I am in the middle of nowhere and nobody to ask and really starting to hate Fiery
on Monday I will escalate to KM but would like to try everything and get this sorted before if I can.

Thanks
