Bizhub-C-253, User and Administrator mode.

Have only very limited experience with this machine until now. Customer called me that he purchased a used BH-C-253. When selecting user mode it shows only entrance # 4 and # 6 no other options available he told me.

Question: How to reset the machine back to factory settings or how at least to enable the full user and administrator mode. I have the tech manual but it will take me half a day to find it out myself and I have to answer my customer early Monday morning at 7:00 AM. Problem is I have no machine at hands to figure it out by testing.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Paul but I have all manuals. I have just so much to do for the moment and not really time to dig into that fat manual before Monday morning. Problem is also that I don't have a machine at hand to simulate and practise before I go there. Customer believes I'm a specialist for this machine........

Thanks again and have a nice Sunday.

It's common on most bizhubs to have these functions come to ready at different rates, sometimes not at all. They still seem to function, but it can be a long time for some of the menu items to appear. I remember a specific bizhub 501 that it took 4 re-boots to get the networking menu to appear. Then I could set up the network and everything was fine, but that menu option rarely appeared on the machine.

If your objective is to do a network setup there a few work-arounds. If you can get the configuration page, crossover into the MFP and make the necessary changes from the web interface. If it's IP is already configured for the network but you don't know what it is, connect your laptop to the network and run NetScan to pick up the IP, then follow the same procedure.

There's no special procedure, just patience. =^..^=

Thanks Cat. There now is a new situation, the customer did in the mean time some kind of reset resulting that desired options are there but....., now the hard scan button is without function and also in the user mode there is no option #1 for entering scan addresses. Also with PageScope Web Interface is there no register card for putting in scan addresses.

Machine copies and prints fine and everything is more or less OK now except the missing scan function.

What's going on?

If they reset the machine in techrep mode I think it will uset the HDD go into techrep mode and set it and reboot.

Well that was the trick. Thanks very much Paul.

I instructed the customer by phone to get into the service mode again and to check about the HDD and indeed it was deactivated. After activation the scan function came back.

Thanks to all colleagues for their assistance.
