Paper dust collector for what?

There are two plastic rollers right before the registration roller where they sit snug right up against them. I've seen them in 600/750...and they maybe in the 601/751...now that you brought it up I can't remember if they are or not...but they may be in both series...

You also get them in 1050pro series and later.....I clean them with a straight edge or vac them...

Kidaver

Well they are mostly in high speed machines....and before registration so probably to keep registration and the IU from getting caked in the dust...as I said before in schools where they do not use the highest quality paper that massive amounts of dust would be a nightmare if they got clogged up in those areas...

What's your problem? Is this a riddle?

They are to collect the talc/filler from the cheap paper often used so that it does not get carried further into the machine and get attracted to the drum along with the toner, as this would cause blotchy copies as well as even more toner dumping as the more white dust that is mixed with the recycled waste toner, gives even greyer black patches which gives even more over-toning !!There is a large full width collector on the 950/920/1050 series that is on the underside of the sync/reg roller and these little pads are on top on the white pressure rollers. A further one is inside the top of the right hand side door of the same units and is normally forgotten about as it is unseen!

DI 750/850 Pre-registratiion roller paper dust remover. (Service one for 9 years and made it to 9 million copies.)
There is a long one under the registration roller.
Keeps paper dust from contaminating the developer because of recycling the toner from the cleaning unit.
Less paper dust keeps the developer from failing early.

They are of an electrostatic material that attracts the paper dust through static.
Ever rub silk against a glass rod in High school, or rub a balloon on your hair to make it stick?

Originally was installed on the Konica 6190.
Very important to blow them off @ each call.

An ounce of prevention prevents a pound of cure.
If you clean them more often, they don't cause flat spots on the white plastic roller.

Anyone else?

I think this just collects any dust particles from the paper to prevent clogging in the machine??
I have similar ones in 920s and they get a lot of dust which is usually whitish in colour meaning it is scrapped from the paper as it enters the printer.

Minimerlin - which door are you referring to I checked on my 920 as I always just clean the easily visible one how do I get to the one on top of the door?

Minimerlin - which door are you referring to I checked on my 920 as I always just clean the easily visible one how do I get to the one on top of the door?Look at the right hand vertical transport door, the top third of the exterior metalwork of this door is removable and behind the metal you will find a further dust collector that runs onto the top transport white roller. Normally it will be obvious when this gets packed with dust as it falls all over the floor under the door!:D

Remove outer cover of right side door. You'll also see some of these on the registration assembly and under the registration roller. They're easy to vacuum or scrape with a knife blade. =^..^=
