    C550 fiery IC-409 x3e issues - system software reload

    Hi,
    I'm new here. W

    e've had a C353 with stapling finisher for 5yrs on lease. Just bought a C550 with low page count and same IC-409 fiery on both. However the C550 fiery is a bit flaky. Sometimes disappears off the printer touchscreen (the controller option).

    On our C353 it says 2.7gb or thereabouts for system software and 60+ gb free space. The C550 says 25gb system software, only 2gb free with NO docs saved on the fiery. What the heck?

    Have to send print jobs twice or they don't print.

    Can't calibrate it. Comes up with "Error - 12" on the touchscreen. Colorcal thru CWS5 (recent download and install) comes up with two other errors, basically can't communicate.

    My KM tech guy says nobody there has the system software. These all shipped without discs! I have new 80gb sata HD's coming so I will clone both but the C353 has different system software than the C550 even though both are exactly the same IC-409 hardware.

    Registered for fiery forums but 2 days later still can't post.

    I know there are system software discs but there's also a procedure to use a USB stick for a reload. If anyone has a suggestion on either front that'd be most helpful.

    Wanna get the C550 up and running and calibrated.... and return the C353 to it's maker.

      have your KM tech login to mykonicaminolta.com go to service dropdown > one stop product support > color products > scroll way down to ic-409> select system code
      There he/she will find the iso's to reimage and all the patches that may need to be loaded as well.
      Also the program and documentation for using the usb stick are there as well.
      And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

              As an aside, got some 80gb drives in to clone the orig drives so I can swap from one to the other without fear of corrupting anything... and fiery has gone an used a "80gb" drive that's 82.3gb, not 80gb. My hdd docking station all-in-one cloning won't clone it as the target drive is 2 lba sections smaller. Bloody hell.

              Just cloning the C353 to a larger 320gb drive I had lying around, gonna try it in the C550 see if it works.... while I wait for the tech with system software to show up.

              I'm wondering what the differences are between the C353 and C550 fiery as the hardware is identical.

                  So get this.... I cloned the 82.3gb drive in the C353 IC-409 to a spare 320gb drive I had lying around, put the cloned drive back into it (so zero risk to corrupt the existing HD). Put the C353 fiery on the C550.... booted up just fine. Talked to the C550 no problem. Registered in the utility menu. I was able to successfully colorcal calibrate it.... colour isn't quite the same as the C353 but then again... I haven't calibrated that in a long time.

                  So guys.... you can use a IC409 from a C353 on a C450/C550/C650 seemingly with ZERO issues. LOL

                  My buddy is downloading system software so in next few days I'll do fresh install on a fresh 80gb HD and clone that for backup reasons.

                      IC-409 System code V1.0 is not compatible with: C253/ C353.

                          Thanks, yes, we figured that out.

                          Only difference is system software. Our c353 was already v1.01

                          Our c550 was already upgraded to v1.01
