have you captured the communication with a logic analyser ?

cant imagine its that complex since theres countless providers of aftermarket chips on the market.

Not yet. There was always not enough spare time and many other things to do :/

Are you sure that "there's countless"? IMO there's no more than 5, the rest are probably resellers only.
