I don't work on the KM machines, But on the Ricoh's sharps ect. I'll use it to get sticky stuff off the drum. To clean and polish a drum I use NUFINISH car wax, also on Ricoh's hard charge rollers..

Alcohol is fine, just careful your rag isn't abrasive

Yes.

Other choices that do not damage drum coatings:
Dispersant
Paraffin Lamp Oil
Orange-Sol

But all these cleaners are oily so you need to rinse the drum with alcohol when you're done. And I'm beginning to think that the Paraffin can absorb into polyurethane ... like drum blades, so make sure Paraffin does not contact the drum blade. =^..^=

Depends on the drum. Years ago I used to recoat drums and some of them would crystalize after time when apply isoproply to them. Normally those particular drums were crap anyway.

I agree with the Paraffin--in the past, I have actually researched paraffin while fabricating a surfboard--its applications are vast and might surprise.
Anyways, regardless of safely applying anything to the drum, one should ensure that little/no reside will reach the blade.

No problem on the alcohol, but do remember to use a lot of padding powder.
