Developer Life on a Bizhub C8000

We have a service booked for next week, unfortunately all the developers are on 129% of their life span? We haven't noticed any degradation of quality (so far), does anyone know the absolute limit we could push it to before they needed changing.
And would it be wise to attempt to change it (them) myself, I do have a service manual, so know the theory and technique behind it, but without the practical experience I'm a little wary, is there much that could go wrong, apart from getting contamination into the dev unit?

    Cheers

    letting the obvious go,

you can break the DV gear -- did they leave the drill bit with the machine?

on these newer machines they come with what looks like a odd shapped drill bit, using in a electric drill it drives out the old developer. Saves you hours on a PM. in fact, I try not to let DV get past 120% as if starts to drop DV into the drum then you have a bad DV unit, bad drum and prob a damaged belt....

in a C8000 thats alot of money.

    is the machine under contract?
