I used my machine and turned it off normally. When I power on later, the hour glass displays, then the KM logo plus start button flashing orange and stays there. The machine stays at that point forever.
I have tried turning off, disconnecting power, reconnecting, turn on, all in vain.
I even tried powering on with utility button pressed; "trouble reset" appears after the KM logo but the touch screen stops responding so I cant touch "trouble reset."
What else can I try? I have only printed five pages since I bought this used machine.

It would still be best to find a tech, but if you want to give it a shot:

You need to run the NVRAM recovery firmware...or you might have to replace the NVRAM and/or MFPB board.
I recommend before you even attempt any of this get a dedicated surge protector (http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/showthread.php/83912-dedicated-surge-protector) if you are not using one already.

First, you will need a CF card that will work--smaller than 256mb (I use SanDisk "Shoot&Store" (http://www.memoryten.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=008535&Category_Code=Flash-CF-CFSTD-128MB) Cards).
Next you will need to purchase the NVRAM recovery tool, the Firmware Imaging Toolkit and service manual: http://www.justmanuals.com (http://www.justmanuals.com/)

Once all that is accomplished, and you still need help get back with us :)

**do not format the CF card!!**

From my experiences :

1. Reload Firmware
2. Replace NVRAM
3. Replaced Printer Control Board

These are better done by a trained tech.....

Could still be other things, but those are in my experience.

It could be also faulty memory modules.

This Parts & Service Manual can now be purchased for $12.77 and downloaded immediately after payment from:

I also have the firmware and NVRAM recovery tools.

I feel for you, but this forum isn't designed to teach you how to work on your MFP. If you have no copier knowledge, then you are only going to make things worse. Can you return the MFP or get the seller to handle the repairs? It may be as simple as a bad memory chip, but it could also be a bad MFP board, power supply, or corrupt firmware. All of these (except the memory, this can be replaced with a store bought brand and is pretty simple) should be addressed by a qualified tech. BTW what is "quark" "I bought it from quark". Emujo

Disconnect the hd and see if it will boot up. Could be bad. And like mentioned reflash fw dimm memory could be no good.

A tech came today, with NVRAM, fixed and the machine displayed (passed the KM logo screen).
However, there was C0105 trouble code where the machine again got locked up on. The touch panel was unresponsive so he couldn't touch "continue operation."

What could be causing the screen lock?
Tech suspects printer board and it takes him a full day to travel back to test it and return.

I would appreciate any urgent help before he removes the printer board!!
