We have serviced quite a few C203/C253/C353 series and like them. Considering the C220 series and just wanting to know if they are generally as good, better or worse from a service standpoint than the C203 series?
Thoughts?

They are very good, separate drum and developers which a minor annoyance.

Otherwise, touch screen, web interface, doc feeder the same.

Paper path has a secondary transfer door, which so far as been problem free.

Didn't make feed units any easier to get to (4 series color finally did)

Generally Compare to C220 with C203, Km C203 is the best machine. But in C220 Series, the KM C360 machine is the best machine...

I have worked on both and my opinion is that the C220 series is better. The separate drum and dev makes it cheaper to service, and the quality is better as well.

The Dev units last along time. Over all the C360 C280 C220 are good machines, unfortunately discontinued. They have there faults too but I would take anyday over C203 series.(especially the PH unit change). ;)

Hands down the C220/280/360 is head and shoulders above the POS 203/253/353 series. I loathe the 203, look back at all the BS, the lasers , the T-belt retraction nightmares, theres a reason these weren't around long...... Thank God!

have to agree, c360 series machines are one of the best machines in existence, never have major issues with them. People who upgraded to the 4 series are usually disappointed.

I call BS as far as paper feed units not being easier on the c360 series compared to the c353 series - try removing tray 1 fed unit on a c353 and then on a c360 and say that again...

I still wonder what kind of f-tard designed the HVT set up on the 353 series, that big plastic abortion with swinging plastic arms and lots of springs just makes you say to yourself WTF were they thinking? Yeah the 4 series boxes work OK but the fuser is/was another KM engineering marvel (fail), how many upgrades have they done and we still get multiple calls every week for fuser noises. I guess it keeps them selling parts.

Only major issue I had with a c360 once, was when I had to replace the transfer belt retraction sensor. Holy hell that was to get at, had to remove a whole drive unit. No instructions either. I winged it but only took a couple hours to do.

Dont forget toner clumps in waste system bricking the machine

Thats an every day job on the C203/353 you get good at yanking the entire back of the machine down to the frame.
