Hi

I have C552 where is service mode password, I have tried 92729727 but no luck.

Now i have gotten NVRAM Reset tool, but according to the manual i still need to enter the service mode before NVRAM reset to disable some license stuff.

Now how can I get this to work?

I have done on C352 to removed the service mode password with its NVRAM reset tool, can anyone help me please?

Hi,

I m not sure, how can i verified that?

I m used to C352, but not this C552

2) Set software switch setting.[System2] -> [Software Switch Setting]
Switch No.: 10
Hex Assignment: 00
[Note] Never forget to perform this step. If you perform subsequent steps without performing this step,
license management error occur and you cannot repair it with repair code.

This is what i get in the NVRAM reset tool documentation

CE password has to be minimum 8 characters long

how did it get changed? is this a 2nd hand machine

if you dont know the CE password you dont really have any choice but to just run recovery regardless of licence or not then cross that bridge if you need to

Ya is a secondhand unit.

If anything happen to the licence won't the machine not working anymore?

That's a dangerous bet

thats administrator mode not service mode

1234567812345678 is only the new models. its twice as secure lol
they did the same for the CE password but this is a old model so it should just be default

OP: have you contacted the person you purchased machine from for password?
Why not ask the customer if machine could OCR, if not then chances are it had no licence kit and your worrying about nothing

Sounds to me like you're about to be the proud owner of a new boat anchor...You are messing with settings that can render your MFP useless. This is a pretty helpful site, but it's not geared toward the end user for problems like this...I suggest you drop another 150 for an hour of a qualified techs time before you go any further with the NVRAM reset stuff. Done so, the so called qualified tech also said no idea, what he did was what i done all the possible default password. I m not end user, end user is my customer, just we are self trained technician for 20 years. :D

Ofcourse i do know with this i might destroy one suppose working machine, thats y until now i done nothing yet :D

I've been with KM for some time....A lost CE password is only recoverable by replacing the NVRAM. The NVRAM can only be ordered by a KM tech (or dealer). NVRAM reset won't work. That's why the SM says "don't lose the CE password" Pain of death!!!! Emujo

emujo, what are your thoughts on desoldering the battery and resoldering it back? Not that I am recommending it...documentation is very lacking for such things (understandably).

Yep. "Right next to" the "A" key.... not sure if this usage is common in London, but in the US this usage for proximity is common.

He saw the word right and assumed you were giving directional info on the keyboard! Can we all just agree that caps lock was indeed on and that we all know where the key is? Haha

No, he saw the word incorrectly. (:
Nevertheless, semantics and spacial dyslexia aside, I will not agree to this.

It is possible that the entire work was typed concurrently with the shift key pressed; moreover, the keyboard could have been broken (possible the root of mikeena's difficulty in typing).

Either way, this thread makes me happy.
