I have a failed system board (OACB) on a C6500. This board comes with no firmware installed so you cannot flash the machine using a USB drive so I have to use the ISW TRNS tool to download the firmware to the board.

Normally you would plug the laptop into the printer port on the R/H rear side of a good working machine machine using a printer cable and the C6500 USB driver to use the ISW tool would then download and install on the laptop. This worked fine on my old laptop running windiows XP. I now have a new laptop running windows 7, when plugging in the printer cable an unspecified device is now available in device manager but no USB driver is installed. I tried downloading the USB driver from a working machine in preperation of changing the board on the defective machine so at the moment I cannot use theISW tool to flash my new OACB. The customer is now getting a little jumpy as their machine is down.

Try as I may I cannot get the KM C6500 USB driver to install on my laptop. I can only assume the one that is downloaded off the machine is not compatable with windows 7.

Anyone any ideas on how I can get this to work?

Thanks

do you have a current version of iswtrns? was isw installed on the w7 pc in win 2000 compatibility mode or did you just say this program installed correctly when prompted by windows installer?

Yes I have the current version of ISWTRNS, this is not the problem.

See attachment from service manual you cannot install the USB driver in Windows 72584425844

i have it working on Win7 x86 not 64 bit

So the USB driver from the machine downloaded and installed on your PC/Laptop without any problems?

Unfortunately I have Win7 64 bit edition...

If you are able to log into Konica's ssd webpage then search for this problem. There is 12-15 page guide on how to set win 7 up to do this. I have set it up and the steps are a pain to do.
You have to also restart in "unsigned drivers mode" to get it to work.
