    C-164 fault code on C224e

After replacing the printer board on a C224e, it refuses to initialize and shows a fault code C-164 which does not seem to exist in my own service manual. Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

Hi, there is a solution to this, after changing the mfp board and you have to follow steps to get it working. Check this out ID#: TABT1200285EN.

You must install firmware for printer control board.
Refer: G-45 (p.240) in service manual.

        Hi,

This error is a Rom error. You most likely didn't set the Machine Type information before doing the F/W

It supposed show Japanese language at first. Sounds like you don't realise what is going on. There are special steps that need to be done. Get a certified tech is my recommendation.

You can't just install the board and boot up.

Konica have decided in their wisdom that to test boards you need to jump through a million hoops... Personally I think its a good way for them to sell more machine since engineers will be bricking machines all over the country.

Plus its a way of shortening the life span of the machines. As time goes on NEW boards become less available and since they have made it hard to take boards off a machine to test they ain't gonna be around for a decade put it that way.

It's really not that difficult, it just requires that you RTFM. I don't understand all the griping about board replacement on the new series- just read the damn manual and it spells out what to do. Techs are just getting lazy and not staying current in their knowledge. Bottom line: read through the install instructions before attempting these procedures.
