Took over service from previous vendor that sold this machine used to client. Looks like a c353, config says c353 but oem toner when inserted says wrong toner. Cartridges look identical but not reading chip we figure. Any ideas?

thanks!

Do a clear error data, if that does not work do all data clear.

Will ill I lose any other settings that I need to write down first or back up?

The meter count stays in check. I would use pagescope to backup address book data and settings. Also redo gradation calibration. there is a list in the service manual that would explain exactly what u are clearing. I had no trouble doing that before and would fix the weirdest issues. Had that same problem on a C253 and C353 before and both times after market chips was found inside the machine.

Still not sure if it was error data clear or all data clear that did the trick i just did both at the same time.

If that does not work, you can always switch the chips out to at make it operable....

Even after going back to OEM consumables the problem remains.

What do you mean? The machine will never operate again?

Hehe should have used a quote on that one. If the machine is already in the state that it does not recognize the IU or toner swapping the 3de party stuff back to OEM stuff does not help. The data clear fixes that.

Swop the contacts. If that does not work something got fried. Ouch!

Try to remove the chip and press it in place by hand while making the door switch.

You say the machine "looks like a Bizhub C353" do a config print & test page do these both show the machine is a Konica Minolta? It maybe an Ineo+ model & that may not accept KM toner, it will reject the toner chip. I belive there is a soft switch you can change something like below:

To change the Configuration Page header to Konica Minolta bizhub (http://www.amazon.co.uk/-/dp/B000WYQHLU), please perform the following:
1. Access the Service Mode.
2. Select System 2.
3. Select Software Switch Setting.
4. Enter Switch No. "10".
5. Bin Assignment "00000000 (tel:00000000)".
6. Hex Assignment "02".
7. Click on Fix.
8. Click on End.
9. Power the MFP OFF/ON.
10. Print another Configuration Page. Page Header should now be changed to Konica Minolta (http://rd.shopzilla.co.uk/rd2?t=http%3A%2F%2Ftracking.searchmarketing.com%2F click.asp%3Faid%3D423249149&mid=132667&catId=13877&atom=10767&prodId=&oid=2309022708&pos=1&bId=18&bidType=0&bAmt=e72c0408b9b6cae1&cobrand=2&ppr=0fe87132ef645616&rf=af1&af_assettype_id=10&af_creative_id=6).

Tried that and can't get it to change to all zero. When we do it changes the hex assignment to 00.

Are you sure you are using C353 toner and not C253/203 toner? They are not the same. They use different chips.
