Hi
I seem to be getting one headache after another on $200 printers these days.The machine sends faxes ok,but dosnt
receive them.The display just says private call,but does not pick up as a fax.It is set to fax only and all settings appear ok on user setting printout.
It is a dedicated line and this just started to happen out of the blue.Not sure what setting changes,I tried a machine reset,but not factory reset.

Is the Rx mode set to distinctive ring? A distinctive ring is a non-standard ring combination commonly used when you're using a single phone line for multiple functions. The fax may be set to respond to a distinctive ring like: ring ring pause ring ring, and the phone line is producing: long ring pause long ring. Or vice versa.
Does the line ring ever? Connect your handset to the line and listen for a ring when you dial from your cell. You phone line should test as follows:
On hook: 12vdc, 90vac
Off hook: 52vdc, 12vac
Ringing: 90vac low, 110 - 125vac high
It's very common for PBX systems to output a ring signal that the fax does not recognize as a ring.
Is the phone line connected to the LINE input, not the handset input?
Is it set to manual reception instead of automatic reception?
Is there a Reception Restriction function enabled? When enabled Reception Restriction answers only phone numbers that appear in the addressbook.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thank you for replying.Yes it is ringing and distinctive ring is off,It shows in display for every fax coming in "Private Caller"

Can you attach printout with fax settings? I would consider Factory reset if it happened out of nowhere.
