Brother MFC-L8850 Will not power up

My client has a Brother MFC-L8850 that will not power up.
After desoldering and checking the two fuses on the power supply, I went creative.
Here are the two paths to resolving the problem:
--
First -
• Pull line cord
• Wait 30 seconds
• Press & hold ‘Power’
• Connect line cord
• Release ‘Power’ button when ‘Home’ is displayed

I repeated this 3x to no avail. The machine would not power up in the normal mode.
--
Second -
I repeated the above steps once, followed by:

• Press ‘Wrench’ icon
• Press ‘All Settings’
• Press ‘Initial Setup’
• Press ‘Reset’
• Press either
‘Machine Reset’
- or -
‘ All Settings’
- or -
‘Factory Reset’
( I forgot which cured the problem )

The machine now powers up in the normal (customer) mode repeatedly.

so you removed the power cord without turning the machine off first? baddddd idea, as you are creating a big power fluctuation. not good on a power supply in a machine.

Actually, the machine WAS off in the beginning; the goal was to make it power up.
