HL4140C shows paper tray not inserted

Have a machine showing the above fault.
Paper tray not detected please re-insert tray 1. scrolls on screen.
The good news is I have a spare machine minus consumables in the workshop.
Have put them side by side and can see no difference at all, neither can another engineer.
In fact neither of us can see what does actually detect that the cassette is inserted.
Does anybody know how this is done on this machine, as the obvious white switch on the previos model 4040 is not there.
Any help appreciated
Obviously we have tried all the parts in the other base unit and it works o.k, however this does not belong to us and we may have to return it to the customer so just swapping them over and returning the other unit is not an option
