DYNAMIC OFFICE SOLUTIONS
Started in april 1984 at minolta dealer in denver, co.
25 years
6yrs for me. Spent 27yrs in factories working rotating shifts fixing anything that moved blinked or farted. Needed to find a career that I could work during the day and have weekends off.
Did not know where the on switch was when I started. One week in the work shop and out into the jungle. Service tech first 3yrs. Product trainer one year. I.T tech last 2yrs.
I.T. Definately better than servicing but can be more stressfull at times. Especially when trying to make out like you know exactly what your doing and training yourself at the same time. Hehehe
It's 31 years in one months time, love every minute of it. What other jobs do you get to see different people everyday, who supply you with coffee & biscuits. 90% of my customers i know personally, they're friends or neighbours, they very rarely kick off as they know I will do everything I can to help them. Most of my jobs I attend to within 1 hour as they are all within a 20 min walk from my workshop. Because they are all so close I don't need to worry about parking, if I need a part I walk back & get it, while my coffee is cooling down. Whenever I go out at night I normally bump into a customer who is quite happy to buy me a drink!! My wife is no longer jealous when I get beautiful women smiling at me or giving a little wave.
I think I have the perfect job !!!!
Its 20 years for me now and I can feel myself fading fast!!!!
Just hit 30 last month. Started with a dealer in nyc with 6 employees, got bought by a company with 400 employees, got bought by a company with 22000 employees, couldnt take that, went to a dealer with 4 employees only to finally realize he was an idiot and that I could do it all by myself which I have been for 10 years this month. Too late for an old dog to do anything else.
