scraping printer for parts? is it worth it?

    Hi All,

I have a question. Im in the refurbishing business and I get usually printers from all sorts. Since its not my area of expertise, they dont usually resell that well and are big. I just discard them and take them to the recycler.

some models that i receive atm are HP Officejet 6000,6100, 6230, 7000 (wide format), PSC 1215, 8000
Laserjet 3015DN(most of the time), Laserjet M553DN, Lexmark C544DN.

half of the time there is no issue at all with them and most of them still have half a toner inside.

Is there any part that should I take out before I take them to the recycling center?.

From time to time I dismantle one or another just out of curiosity. Last time was an old (30+years) copy machine.the ones that uses a green fuser lamp. it still worked like a clock. it took me 6 hours up to the last screw.

Next I have a postage printer and a sublimation to dismantle.

    any suggestions. will be appreciated.

Those are not printer models I see very often. Probably different model numbers across the ocean.

Were it me, I'd hold onto a few. Then I'd keep a running thread of which models I had on hand, and an email destination for requests. It won't take you long to find out which models are in demand, and which parts. Depending on how difficult each item is to remove, I'd probably price at 50% of new cost + shipping for a good used part.
    =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    Hi

that is actually a good idea. I will make a list of the product numbers.
regarding to the models probably is something local, also keep in mind that I pick-up/buy decommisined equipment from govt and companies. So the equipment I get is at least 4+ years old. sometimes like the copier 30+ .

    tnx for the tip
