It's black magic fixing customers needs and easy peasy lemon squeezy fixing a copier
    To each their own.

I feel the need to add to what I said. It's complicated.

I don't like sales. Most times I hate it. I'm an introvert. Moreso in a social setting. So, sales didn't come naturally to me. I have to force myself to make sales calls. I procrastinate like a MF'er. But I always eventually force myself to make my sales call. The only thing I like is when they actually say yes. And I get a lot of no's before that happens.

Today I sat down all day and got one service call for paper jam which only took me 5 minutes to clear out that hidden paper jam ans that was it. My boss is rarely at the office as he works from home 95% of the time. His wife is the one who answers all of the incoming calls and dispatch the service calls to us and also she does all the toners ordering and etc.. I'm starting to feel unsecured about my job.
Start looking up authorized Kyocera dealers and putting in your resume. They are dying to get you...trust me. You will have the opportunity to advance your career and make more money. Stay where you are and you are doomed to limited opportunity and a dealer feeding off of existing service revenues instead of sales and service revenue growth. Once they are too broke to staff a sales rep the end is in sight. Is the wife the bookkeeper?

I could spend paragraphs explaining how money is made by dealers who run their business' the right way but clearly yours is not.

You are smart enough to read the landscape and ask the right questions, go find a dealer where you do not have to worry about the 'Mom & Pop' syndrome.

As a tech, your task is to maintain a territorial click count that generates your hourly run rate (salary+costs) plus 55% profit to feed the rest of the organization. That's all the math you need.

I like simple cash sales. Getting machines of the books. Toner sells. That is what I do in the mornings advertising on what ever platforms. Noting wrong if everything is mutual the money is welcome. I do not do that if I am running calls then I need to focus. I am bored with that.
    Whatever

Very good if this is that simple.

Fortunately our boss is genius in selling and I mean by far!
So I'm not expected nor going to do what anyone's doing the best. Keep it simple stupid

Cool Re: How money is made in copier biz?

The copier business, much like any other, operates on the foundational principles of buying low and selling high, leveraging contracts for maintenance and supplies to ensure a steady income stream beyond the initial sale of the machine. This business model highlights a critical aspect often overlooked: the importance of meticulous financial management and strategic planning. It's not just about making money but effectively managing it to ensure growth and stability.
In this light, the conversation extends beyond the copier business into the realm of personal finance. Managing one's finances is crucial, no matter the industry or personal career path. It's about understanding where your money is coming from, where it's going, and how it can work for you. This is where tools like Google Sheets come into play. With Google Sheets, individuals have a powerful, flexible, and accessible tool at their fingertips, capable of transforming the complex web of personal finance into a manageable and transparent system.
For those interested in taking a deeper dive into how Google Sheets can be leveraged for personal financial management, I highly recommend visiting Spreadsheet Tools Lab. This blog offers valuable insights and practical advice on making the most of Google Sheets for budgeting, expense tracking, and financial planning. It's a treasure trove of information for anyone looking to get a better handle on their personal finances, whether you're in the copier business or any other sector.
Remember, the first step to making money is managing it well. Tools and resources like Google Sheets and Spreadsheet Tools Lab can play a pivotal role in achieving financial clarity and success.

I don't know but I have a young Technician in training that keeps trying to use Chat GPT to fix machines instead of using the manuals and I've had enough!

As to how money is made in copier biz? We call it sales and clicks!

It's amazing how many opportunities there are to make money if you approach it wisely and strategically. But I still trustly believe in one idea, namely in a trustly casino, and there is reason for this. I read a lot about him, studied a lot, consulted a lot with people. So you can earn money in many places nowadays. This is good. This blog offers valuable insights and practical advice on making the most of Google Sheets for budgeting, expense tracking, and financial planning. I didn’t even know that you could make money from this.
