Canon iR2545i SMB issues

Hi all,
Im new to this site.

I currently have an issue with the canon iR2545i copiers. We upgraded our storage servers to windows server 2016.
According to the manual, this series of copier only works up to windows server 2008, is there a way to still use SMB protocols on the copier with Windows server 2016?
It works when I set the scan destination on a computer connected locally, or the older server, hence why I think the problem is communicating to the server 2016.

I read something about enabling SMB v1 , but my knowledge is limited when it comes to server set up?
I was wondering if there are any settings that could be changed on the copier?

any information would be valued.

DO NOT ENABLE SMB1 SMB! was disabled by MS to keep ransomware (wannacry) from being able to INFECT your computers....

IF you are a service tech.. your company could be sued and you could lose your JOB if it is enabled....
IF you are an IT Dept employee you should have your ASS BEAT for even considering this move.

get the firmware upgrade to use SMB2/3

get informed it might do you some good.

Can the firmware upgrade only be downloaded by service techs? if so this is an issue as Im on an isolated island.
is there a way of connecting with canon to issue me the firmware update?

yes I know I have no idea, that's why i said I have no knowledge of server software.
Im here to learn and broaden my knowledge from some of the most experience people over the world.

I also read up about the SMB V1 and why not to use it. Also checked against the microsoft links. It was very helpful.
