Canon firmware upgrade procedure ir 3225 black&white

Hi, I need Help with installing 50.03 on ir 3225 copier. Current firmware is 42 or 49 right now.
The copier is running most of the time, customer has to shut copier down a few times a day. Due too the control panel locks up(freezes).
They are NOT using POE.
I have the latest firmware on a thumb drive & service manual , I just want to make sure I have this procedure right. Chapter 18-28 Should I use confirmation or auto or over-write all.
Safe mode 2&8 or normal 1&7. Can someone please give me the skinny on this procedure.

I would power off, insert usb stick, power on holding 2+8.
then choose overwrite all and let it do its thing.

remember
never make format HDD

on the HDD there is a BOOT for start the opening of the system

Thank-you so much , just want to make sure , I want to do what most techs would do when up-grading firmware, I really appreciate your expertise, I was a expert 20 years ago, now different story. Thanks again, will try.

That's for your suggestions, I must have downloaded my firmware improperly,the screen says 19.1 or 19.01. and keeps telling me to turn off or hit reset button. It should say I believe 50,03 I must of not done the unzip properly or copied the the wrong yellow folders . I will try again.

Did you export the firmware to your usb flashdrive using Service Support Tool?

No, Is That what I am missing then. I was sent firmware via drop-box, I thought all I had to do was unzip to a new folder and pick the yellow folders after extracting zip.
