Try a different usb drive. I have had drives the some machines just did not like. Drive needs to be at least 1 GB per Canon.
All imageRUNNER ADVANCE Series Pulling wrong versions while using CDS
Problem :
While using the CDS to receive content, the wrong version or application information is being delivered and is not what is expected for the model device being used.
Solution :
It will be necessary to ensure that the correct Country / Area selection in service mode is correct for the location in which the CDS is being used. The image below shows how the setting is for Japan. To select another region use the +/- key as outlined. We can then select another Country / Area for example US as shown in the second image. After making this setting, please reboot the device.
To access the area of concern in Service Mode level 1, execute the following. Copier > Option > FNC-SW > Config

Cannot load system software on the machine
Problem :
When trying to reload system software on the machine, it does not work. When trying to flash the machine with a USB stick, the download process stops and the machine locks up. It never completes the process of downloading the software from the USB stick to the machine. When trying to flash the machine with a laptop, the laptop displays an error code of E196.
Solution :
Replace main controller 1. After main controller 1 was replaced, the machine could be flashed using a USB stick or a laptop with no issues. The part number for main controller 1 is:

is firmware store on HDD or somewhere else?
i have replaced hdd on my machine and connecting one from similar one where DCON version shows 40.xx
but on problematic machine nothing changed and DCON version shows 25.xx
i am a bit confused now

Can someone help me here. I think I downgraded the FW, too on my C2225 now there is no network access anymore. I read that a tool called SST is needed but where to get this tool. I found some webpages but these are all viruses.
Also a little manual how to upgrade the firmware again would be nice of you.
Or is it too late to activate the Network again after the fw up/downgrade.
I have the service manual bought.
