are they sure its not almost out of toner and the bottle just keeps turning and turning trying to get the last bit out? Seen this a few times
Did you check the toner cartridge? The machine will make a whirring sound when the bottle is empty and the machine searches for toner.

O yeah that was probley what it was. Its only been there for 6 years and " we never heard that before" I also had a boat load of 500-600% over voltage and 30 undervoltage stamps from a few months ago. Always something! : )
If its not the toner bottle almost being empty, check your fixing film and cleaning roller for wear and old grease build up
