    Canon iR4251i Paper Jam error

    Hi All,

    I have an issue with phantom paper jam. The user removed the paper.
    and the copier displayed paper jams at various locations; just before the drum, the fuser and the before the inner two way unit.
    I checked the jam and error history;

    No errors

    jam history displayed;

    Jam Type: POWER ON
    Sensor No: S19

    Jam Type: POWER ON
    Sensor No: S24

    Jam Type: STNRY
    Sensor No: S5

    I tried clearing the errors and alarms. This failed
    I have checked all sensors physically for debri and cleaned.
    One sensor was slightly dislodged but was still functioning.
    I checked in the service mode (I/O > P Sensor > Copier) and found the information for all three sensors(displayed below):

    S5 Pre Registration Sensor
    DCCON>P001>7 1: Paper Presence

    S19 Fixing Outlet Sensor
    DCCON>P005>5 0: Paper Absence

    S24 Reversal Sensor
    DCCON>P002>12 1: Paper Presence

    is there any way to clear or reset these?

    note: tried to add attachments, however the internet is too slow here, kept dropping out.

    Did you open and close all doors and all cassettes?

    The reversal sensor may be up in the three-way unit. Possible that something dislodged up there.

    I have checked all three sensors mentioned in the jam history as well as the others in the paper path. the flags all move freely and actual sensors are snuggly fit to the location. I also cleaned lenses on the IR sensors.

    would it reset if I disconnected the sensors, start up the copier, shut down then reconnect the sensors to see if it will recognise the sensors again and put them in the right state?

    any help is appreciated

    Re: Canon iR4251i Paper Jam error

    When removing jammed originals or paper, take care not to cut your hands on the edges of the originals or paper. If you cannot remove the paper, contact your local authorized Canon dealer.
    When removing paper which has become jammed inside the machine, take care not to allow the toner on the jammed paper to come into contact with your hands or clothing, as this will dirty your hands or clothing. If they become dirty, wash them immediately with cold water. Washing them with warm water will set the toner, and make it impossible to remove the toner stains.
    When removing paper which has become jammed inside the machine, remove the jammed paper gently to prevent the toner on the paper from scattering and getting into your eyes or mouth. If the toner gets into your eyes or mouth, wash them immediately with cold water and immediately consult a physician.
    The fixing unit and its surroundings inside the machine may become hot during use. When removing jammed paper or when inspecting the inside of the machine, do not touch the fixing unit and its surroundings, as doing so may result in burns or electrical shock.
    After clearing all paper jams, remove your hands from the machine immediately. Even if the machine is not in operation, your hands, hair, or clothing may get caught in the feed rollers, which could result in personal injury or damage if the machine suddenly starts printing.
