Post Canon PC745 "paper jam" even though there is no paper jam

My canon states that it has a paper jam (even though there is no stuck paper) and also has a piece of plastic and a spring unattached.
The picture of the metal piece with the notch in it is where I believe this spring clips on but where else does it clip? Thanks so much in advance to anyone who reads and helps.

The swing plate you are showing is not moving into the correct position when it should. Lubricate the shaft and attach the spring so that there is tension. When not in the correct position the it wont drive like it should resulting in a jam .... Not a big issue to fix

Hi easymusgrove thanks for your quick response,

The shaft seems to be lubricated fine I'm more of asking where do I attach the spring to?

using my attached photo can you draw a circle around the two points the spring would connect to?

sorry if I'm asking too much of you and thanks for your help,

I have the same issue. Just need to know where to attach the spring. Seems one end to the 'notched' metal piece, where does the other end attach to?

Wow not seen one of these for years I used to look after 100's!

That spring goes on the gear hook in your picture but the other end where is should attach has a plastic hook which snaps off (its part of the base so cant bee repaired)

However all you do is find another area to hook it onto so that the gear up is lifted up under tension.
