    SMTP & Sendgrid

    hi,

we received an e mail from our IT dept last week saying that Sendgrid are changing their Authentication method to API in January and that the API requires a password that is too long to input on a Canon device. We have literally hundreds of devices in the field which use sendgrid and in January all these devices will now stop sending scan to e mail. IT are contacting the customers but forecast hundreds of calls now and it looks like this is being pushed onto the service dept. I was just curious is there a way around the long password? No idea of how many characters it will be.

    tks Munstertech

Interesting issue. You need to start by finding out how many characters the password will be.

I would check with Canon they may release a 'special firmware' to address this issue.

    Re: SMTP & Sendgrid

are you clients customers aware they are using third party credentials to send scans? most sme companies would have an i.t policy in place where this would fall foul of data protection or current gdpr?
id get your i.t to tread very carefully.....
