    canon advance ip c5035i

Toner ended and customer removed the empty bottle . Because there was not available new toner he shaked the empty bottle and tried to put it in again just in case it worked. But now the port that closes the toner couldn't close . I noticed that at the right - down there was a little plastic (perhaps lever) that it didn't permit port to close. I pressed it with a screwdriver and finally it closed. Machine didn't work because of empty toner.
Next day with a new toner customer tried to replace toner following the standard procedure but now port doesn't open and at the bottom of display calling for service. Turned off and on error message E000025-04C0. Can anybody tell me how to fix it? I am a Ricoh an Kyocera tech (years ago i started with cnon machines but now i am not familiar with)

Basically sounds like by forcing the toner cover open you caused this error.

Turn the machine off/on & try resetting it in service mode COPIER> FUNCTION> CLEAR> ERR

Once you get it asking for toner again you should be able to follow the correct instructions & replace the toner.

    • Code: E025-04C0
    • Description:Error in Cover Sensor (PS16) in Bk Toner Container
Unable to detect opening of the Toner Container Inner Cover when removing the Toner Container.
    • Remedy:Identify the cause of the error whether it is due to link mechanism to open the Toner Container Inner Cover or problem at the Toner Container Inner Cover Sensor side. 1. Perform the user mode (Adjustment/Maintenance> Replace Specified Toner) to check if the Toner Container Inner Cover opens normally (damage, slide of shaft area, etc.). 2. Check if the Toner Container Inner Cover Sensor is soiled and the installation of the sensor. 3. Check the service mode (COPIER> I/O> DCON> P024 bit11) to see that the output value of the Toner Container Inner Cover Sensor is changed normally when opening/ closing the Toner Container Inner Cover. If it is normal, the value becomes 0 by rotating the Set-on Drive Shaft with the attached tool and opening the Toner Container Inner Cover. When closing the Toner Container Inner Cover by hand, it becomes 1. 3-1. When the Toner Container Inner Cover is not opened although the Set-on Drive Shaft rotates, check the drive system from upstream (Set-on Drive Unit -> Hopper Unit -> Bottle Base Unit -> Toner Container Inner Cover Unit). If it is damaged, replace the damaged part and then perform step 5 and later steps. 3-2. When the output value is not changed normally although the Toner Container Inner Cover can be opened/ closed, check the Sensor Harness (to see if the harness is caught, disconnected or physically removed, *including the Relay Connector). If there is no problem, replace the sensor. After checking the output value in step 3, perform step 5 and later steps. 4. If the problem is not solved by replacing the foregoing parts, replace the Drum Driver PCB (UN4) and then perform step 5 and later steps. 5. Clear the error in service mode (COPIER> FUNCTION> CLEAR> ERR), and then turn OFF and then ON the main power. 6. Replace the toner (reinstall the removed Toner Container) at least once in user mode (Adjustment/ Maintenance> Replace Specified Toner), and check that toner replacement can be performed normally.

You can manually cycle the toner release...The controller board case at the rear can be pivoted to gain access to toner release. Pivots from left rear corner. Once you have access, you will find a 2" white plastic tool attached with 1 screw. remove the black toner motor at rear, place the one-way bearing end of the tool on the exposed metal post and manually rotate with the tool. It should pop the door open and release the grip on toner bottle. Once removed, try to reinstall empty toner. Wait for machine to ask for toner, follow procedure and door should automatically open, install new toner and it should come ready.

I think it all comes back to what venom said. You need to manually gain access to the toner before you find out what other solutions lie ahead. Another way you can find out is to remove the silver coated plastic that lie on top of the toner "port":
    1. Open the door to access the toner bottle compartment.
    2. That silver-coated plastic is fixed by two screws: one under a kind of keyhole to the right. To get access to the other screw, remove the metal plate that accepts the magnet on the door. Below that plate you'll find the other screw.
    3. Once you are able to remove the silver-colored plastic, there are some black plastic levers that function as locks to the toner door. Press on it to release.
    4. If you are able to release that lever, it means you can simply remove the problem bottle.

If it is not a damage, the problem will go away after successfully reinserting the bottle. Hoping you get round it.

Checked gears looked ok. Also i opened the front cover machine tries to pull toner but fail. Also if i press the front cover at the top and at the same time select from touch screen to open cover , it opens. I tried several times to pull toner but failed. Comparing the front toner cover for black toner with other colors it looks like it is tight.
Also i checked this part at the piocture in attached file and it is not at the proper position also at this part i noticed a crack at bottom

    Hello,
Too bad about the seeming breakage in the picture! However, I still think you can bring the toner bottle out.
There is a large gear around the neck of the hopper unit. On this gear, there is a protruding area on it. When it rotates, this protruding area forces a rod (held in between a small free-moving roller and the gate to the toner bottle area) to push the gate open.
When you manually cycle the toner release, this is the first effect (what you have done presently).
The second after manual cycling is that an open cork clasps on the neck of the toner bottle, whilst the inner part of the cork pulls out the cover of the toner bottle to let in toner through the hopper into the dev unit (This appears to be the situation making it impossible for you to pull it out now). However a continuous turning reverses the situation allowing the bottle to be easier to pull out.
My suggestion is: gently apply a pull effect on the bottle as you manually cycle from the back through the one-way bearing tool. You’ll realize that up to a point, you’ll feel a disengagement of the bottle.

Check the toner release drive system this is location in the back of the machine, most likely the drive gear has broken simple to replace.

I wanted to reply to this specific comment earlier - because I just had this two days ago and fixed it.

First, on the three doors that cover the color toners (not black) there is a white latch at the top end of the right edge of the toner door which is hidden, but sliding a credit card along the right seam of the door upwards will trip that white latch and free up the door to open.

Then, even when it was open, on the machine I was handling, the door had friction and would not freely open, so I had to find where the resistance was coming from. In my case there was a piece of plastic that was rubbing against the case. Filing that down with a pocket knife removed the resistance and now the door freely drops open when the switch is released by the machine.

I know that is only answering that one question out of many questions in this thread, but maybe that will help.

    Bret
