Questions before swapping the PCB (IR C5235)

I will soon have a new (ie used) PCB for my Canon IR C5235, so I wanted to prepare for it with some questions:

    1. The service manual mention to backup the SRAM. Is this vital?
    2. I noticed that you could have two hard drives installed. Since I have a couple of 2,5" drives lying around, is it a good idea to install a mirrored drive, or will i not matter the day when the main drive fails?

    Thanks,
    Andreas

The answer all depends on which 'PCB' you are replacing?

If you are referring to the CPU Board FM1-U976-000 that you were discussing on another post then no you don't need to back anything up simply fit the board & you are good to go.

And this model only had 1 HDD this won't be effecting by replacing the CPU controller so no need to 'mirror' your drive..

For reader pcb and dc cont. you can save data in servicemode level 2.For main cont. must swap 3 small pcb on main board.

What is the problem at the first p...?

    Thanks for the input.

No buttons except the energy saver button works.
According to all answers I have found this is due to a faulty PCB.

This have been discussed on this forum as well:
Canon IRA C5250 "frozen key op panel"
iRAC250i control panel dead apart from energy save button lit.

If you have a better idea I'll listen.

    Bummer.

I swapped the board for another one bught on eBay. No difference.

Do I nead to do something more? I read something about resetting the module as well, but I can't find that info now.
(My guess though is that I got a fault one)

And to be clear; It's the board below the Control Panel, and it has the exact same problem as folllows:
"The touch panel in the control panel assembly and the numbers key top may have slow response or may not respond properly against input although the sleep key top works properly." (From Canon Service info ref no F01243-EN-3.00)

    Any ideas?

    Update!

I bought a new board and it worked flawlessly.
