So the next thing to determine is, what color is it really? K: black or composite black? If its K: black, I'd look at black imaging components. BUT, I suspect that it's composite black, which means that the primary transfer belt is probably not cleaning. You should be able to pull the primary transfer belt at any time and see the residue on the belt. =^..^=

The test chart is all black. I just told the machine to give me all yellow. Your right i think. I suspect the belt is bad. Replaced cleaning unit and still get residue on the trans belt. Its a very flimsy transfer belt unit. This model is junk. Heres a better sample. It simply shouldnt have any black on this copy. IMG_20210521_0001_NEW.jpg

No i didnt do a shading correction. I wil try to upload another sample. Keep getting upload failed message.

Yes. The test chart is all black. Here it is when i told it to do yellow.IMG_20210521_0001_NEW.jpg Point im making is that theres no way you should be getting a black line when your making an all yellow copy in single color mode. You shouldnt get a black line when your making a blank copy either. You can get a solid black copy if your blk laser is stuck on but thats not the case. You can also block the laser path for black and you should get an all blank copy. Not a black line. (No laser to write on the drum. Are you with now?

Single color mode. You should not be getting a trace of black while in single color mode.

I think you're missing the point. Transfer waste is always composite black ... sort of a cross between brown and purple. Even on single color images the transfer belt is used, and the transfer waste will still be composite black. Keep in mind that when doing single color images all the developer units are agitating, all the drums rotating, etc. So if there is a line on the black drum, or the black drum isn't cleaning, you'll still see that black line on the all yellow single color image. =^..^=

Yes Phil im with you on that. I can tell you its not the blk drum. I put in a new 1 and same thing. Replaced the transfer cleaner unit. It has to be coming from the belt. My guess its a worn out belt. This model is nothing more than a desktop in my opinion and the transfer belt looks awful. Its pretty bad when your transfer belt is rated at less than 100k. I run a copy and then pull the belt unit and theres about a 3" portion of blk residue on the far left of belt near cleaner unit. I just didnt think the belt would be shot at only 75k.

No i dont. Im a little out of date. Im on my own since 2010. I dont get to attend copier schools anymore.
