    Canon IRC5550i connection to network

I just received this machine pre owned IR5550i II and cannot connect to the network. I cant ping it from computer. Is there a problem with the main control pcb FM1-W954-000. Has anyone had this fail?

Did you enable and set an IPv4 address?

Re: Canon IRC5550i connection to network

I turned on IPV4 and set ip address to a known ip address used for the old Canon IRC5045 copier it was replacing and couldn't connect. Added IPpv4 address, subnet mask (255.255.255.0), and the gateway then tried to ping the Canon IRC5550i with no reply. Tried to ping the network from the Canon ("ping" on touch screen) with "no response".

Set static IP on your laptop and connect directly, can you ping either way?

I should have mentioned that I tried to ping directly with a static ip using a direct connection of a crossover cable with no replies.

Usually the cable get pulled out and causes the network port on the main board to get damaged, have not had board failure cause that. Try the USB connection, if it works...the board is fine.

Try turning on IPv 6 & set DHCP & Auto IP to on see if it picks up & IP address from your network & do you get both leds on the LAN port flash etc?

    try going to

    PREFERENCE>NETWORK>TCP/IP SETTINGS/IPv4 SETTINGS>PING COMMAND
    and enter 127.0.0.1 (loop back)

if you get Responce from the host the Main Controller work well

Re: Canon IRC5550i connection to network

I reset any apps on this Canon C5550i to factory settings cleared the data. When i hooked up to my lap top with a direct connect (laptop, cat5 cable and copier - direct) then I can ping it with quick fast all 4 responses ok and I can I can print to the Canon.. If I hook into the customers network then I get very spotty responses back when pinging.....lost 2 of 4 responses or only get 1 response.

If I can print and ping the device consistently when directly connected, does this mean it is definitely a network problem in their network? Printer or Network?

???? A older Canon IR C5045 plugged into the same spot replies back to me fine using the same ip settings but the Canon IRC5550i a much newer product can not be reached??? Please if someone can shed some lite. Is it a security setting within the clients network?
