Lightbulb Looking for reset hex code for Canon MC-20 Maintenance Tank (ImagePROGRAF-1000)

Title says it, this is for the MC-20 tank for a Canon pro-1000.
All these chip reads are 2KB reads, but they're padded to the end with 00s

I've read the used chip that was marked as "full" by the printer which contains:

    deadchip.jpg
    Offset: 0x02: 01
    Offset: 0x18 : 37 D5 0E 00 AD 70 45
    Offset: 0x23: 6D 5F

So i bought a "New" chip off ebay, and read the chip contents so I might be able to reset them in the future:
    blankchip.jpg

    Offset: 0x02: 01
    Offset: 0x18 : FE FD 0C 00 31 32 3C
    Offset: 0x23: 2D 75

After putting this one in, the printer said the tank was "90% used" with only 10% life remaining but unlike the first chip, it would allow me to continue printing, but probably not for long. And probably not enough to initialize any new cartridges.

So I read the chip again after the printer "initialized" it and it has this now:

    blankafterinit.jpg

    Offset: 0x02: 01
    Offset: 0x18 : 10 CF 09 00 20 13 43
    Offset: 0x23: 28 C3

I can't figure out any pattern or algorithm that it's using, or identify anything being written to the chip that might act as a printer ID (some epson printers write the serial # to the chip after initialization)

Does anyone have a known blank/new chip that they might have read with an i2c reader that they could share? Or perhaps someone knows what the algorithm used in the ebay chip resetter tools?

    TIA!

Interesting, it looks like 0x01 is some kind of header and then we have 7bytes + 2bytes of data in fixed position also, there is in the 7byte package 4th byte is 00 and 3rd contains only 0x format.

The chip you purchased to decode was that on a MC20 cart or third party replacement chip?
    Any further progress or results?
The information that I've seen elsewhere is that once the chip is marked full, it cannot be reset. So the chip may need to be
    initialized, and then checked.

The chip I got was third party, I'm going to assume, there's no way to tell for sure without unpacking a brand new MC-20 from Canon.
At the time I bought them the chip shortage was at it's height, so a $17 part was going for $100+ just about everywhere.
I'm going to order a new MC-20 in since it's about the time of year I need my good photo printer up and running and I'm going to port-sniff the i2c on the ink tanks as well and come up with a board solution for the whole printer.

in my op, there is a reading of "empty" of the new chip and a reading right after initialization, the problem is I can't really discern any pattern or anything from it.
I've since purchased an eeprom emulator device which will allow me to get a realtime log of data being sent to and from the chip including addresses, so it should be a piece of cake going forward.
If you still need any of this info, post a reply and I'll put it up here as soon as I learn anything. Time is my rarest resource righ tnow.
