Canon IR 4235 with light copies

I have a Canon IR 4235 that is giving light copies. I swapped the developer unit and the drum unit and it really only made a small difference. The copies are still light. When I print out a font report it’s “ohhh Kay” but if I take those print outs and copy them they end up very light. And if I copy them and do double sided copies then you can barely read the back side of the copies.

The fact that the font report is ok ,it means the laser unit is ok.
Try to clean the optical fibre on the scanner with a cotton wool or clean cloth with spirit.
If the copy is still faint clean the transfer roller as well.
If no copy improvement still, under service mode go to COPIER>ADJUST>DEVELOP and make adjustments.

Had same issue a while back. Didn't make sense. Asked for help and one of our techs had battled the same issue a while ago. In my case going into full automatic gradation setting took care of it. I had to run it twice, each time it got much better. Don't ask me why, just try it and see if it works for you too.
    I've proved mathematics wrong. 1 + 1 doesn't always equal 2.........

The way I read it was the font prints are OK (to me means not great), would be easier to help if we could see samples.
Guess I shouldn`t assume that optics were cleaned and auto gradation ran.
