Canon IRAC55xx Series HDD Question

Hi all,

We had a scenario arise this week in that a C55xx series came back to us from lease with the HDD missing. (We suspect the client removed it for security)

So when replacing the HDD it has to be ordered from Canon, or at least be drive that is on their ‘approved’ list ?

However one of my guys fitted a random 1TB drive he had spare & was able to install the system software via the SST/USB dpen without any issues.

So my question is do the latest Canon devices now accept all HDD make/model/size !?

absolutely shouldn't be able to - what brand/make was the 'random' drive?

This is what I thought but a 1TB drive allowed a format in the SST & system software installed.

Drive with part number F4-1550 has encryption that is compatible with printer models adv 35xx, 45xx, 55xx, 65xx generation...
Everything else E602.
