    IR C5051 Beginner/Settings help

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and so far I read and learned a lot.

I have several issues with my Canon Imagerunner Adv C5051. I just bought it used for a fairly cheap price. I'm trying to use to machine to print flyers (sizes: letter and 5x7, 4x6 etc.). Small run size (1000-5000).
    Here are my issues:

    1. I cannot print borderless (not from pc and not from the usb) If I try to print from PC (Acrobat) the printer tells me to load paper. From USB it automatically does the border.
    2. I cannot print pdfs from usb. It shows up but no option for printing.
    3. I cannot select 2 sided coated paper as an option. Again it is there as an option but I cannot select it.
    4. I cannot see my ink levels. It shows only "ok".
    5. How can I update the firmware or better where can I download it?
    6. What desktop software is best for this printer to send jobs etc?

If I cannot fix these things then I'm debating to get rid of it and sadly a new machine is too expensive.

    Thank you guys in advance
I really hope you can help.

If you want to print by pendrive (usb) you have to see if it has the license for pdf files, by default I think it prints files in jgp

If you want to know what type of driver the printer accepts (pcl or ps) go to the printer control panel, press counter check, check device info, there you will see the printing options that the printer has

For the printer to recognize thick papers, put paper in the bypass stack or stack bypass, then select heavy and the appropriate paper weight. Or the coated option, but it has to be because of the bypass stack.

I selected the heavy paper and accordingly to the weight as well, but the paper is 2 sided coated paper and that option is there but the "OK" button is not clickable.

Hello, when you send the print from the computer, don't forget to select the type of paper to print, so that when the print signal arrives at the printer on the screen, it will ask you to put the type of paper you have chosen on the computer. you select in the printer your type of paper to print.
NOTE: if from the computer you send the printout as bond or thin paper and in the bypass you put the paper as thick or coated type, the printer will not recognize it, a conflict may be generated and the option of the type of paper you want to use may not appear

you can try the heavy or tick option which is almost the same you only respect the grammage (type 1, 2 or 3)

If it is because of the printing edges that the printer leaves the ends of the sheet blank, which is 3mm to 5mm, those edges will always exist because it is a laser printer, it needs those edges because otherwise the paper would jam.
The printer that doesn't leave you that margin is the one based on inkjet...
but if you want your print to come out the size you require without losing the margins, the only option would be to cut the paper a little larger, set the paper measurements at the time of printing as non-standard size and in the printer also give it a non-standard size standard, then put the paper measurements and paper type. When the print comes out, cut the margins on the paper again with a cutter or guillotine.

Here in my country there are two options:
1- cut the margins that do not serve you for printing with a guillotine or knife.
2 - buy or have paper cut a little bigger, calculating the printing margin that is required. Once the print is out, they cut the paper again, but they already have the print size they required.
but if you need printing without margins, how do I tell you, opt for inkjet or offset printing

What is the issue of toner? Toner cartridges last an average of 38,000 or 40,000 pages approx. When the toner is about to run out, the printer will show the low toner message on the screen. There is another option in the service mode in which it is activated to be able to remove the toner cartridges and calculate by weight if the cartridge is empty or full, but that is already done with experience...
