IR C5051 not printing pdf using usb

Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to print pdf files directly from a usb stick. On my machine the option for printing is greyed out.
My current settings:
Memory Media - ON
Use MEAP Driver for External USB Device - OFF
PRINT FUNCTION - ON

I already read other threads and some were saying a direct pdf kit is needed. How do I get that?
Also I bought the the C5051 used and I don't have the license key (registration) or anything like that. I already called Canon but they won't help. Is there a way to bypass that on for what is that needed? I have full access to the machine.

The machine needs PostScript installed to print from a USB, check the device configuration and look under options for PS.

Hello, you are lucky when you buy a used printer, if it does not print in pdf from the USB, it is because you must request a license from Canon.
By default I think you can only jpg from the usb. what is usb is usually for corporate or university clients.
You have the option of printing from a computer with the ufr driver or with the printing kit (pcl - ps), or print server b1 - gx300

Thank you. I've been trying to call Canon but so far no luck. Nobody even wants to give me an answer regarding on how to get the license. Is there any other way? I can print from my pc but the colors come out completely different, even with different settings. Also I would really like to just print from usb.

Hi, you have to contact Canon so they can sell you the printing kit, a ram memory is also included in the kit, and see if they send you the license. you have to ask them to tell you about what the printer needs.
contact canon, if they don't respond to a company that is an official canon distributor, to help you contact canon

If the quality of printing from the computer does not convince you, printing pdf from a usb will not improve the quality of printing, it will come out almost the same as it does with the computer.
To improve the print quality you should perform the color calibration, making the automatic adjustment of full gradation, see if the printer has the license to use driver ps, or server imagepass

I forgot, is the printer working with original toner?
If the printer is not with original toner, the colors come out saturated or it generates poor color quality.

The printer has original toner. When I print from PC the colors come out over saturated, when I print from the USB (jpg) the colors come out perfect.
I tried different settings from PC. Acrobat reader, Indesign. I used printer settings and I also tried changing the ICC profile settings in each software, but so far the best print is straight from the USB.

Do you know where to buy the postscript direct print kit besides Canon? Canon said the machine is discontinued but they will check and hopefully give me a call back.
Just a dumb question what is this direct print kit, how does that look like? I'm just an end-user and not a technician.

The printing kit sometimes appears if you have permission or license, press the counter check button, check device info, see if it appears for usb pdf or ps.
The other way would be for a technician to check some options in service mode or to check if it has the other expandable ram memory (if it has two ram memories, it means that it has a printing license) but the technician has to also verify in the license service you have; I have seen some licensed used printers, which on the back covers are like stickers or silver adhesives that say ps or pcl printing kit

You need to order it from an authorized Canon dealer
