iR Adv 400i and iR17xx Series

    Good day everyone,

I'm hoping I'm not alone with this problem and maybe someone out there has encountered the same one.
I have had about 4 of the above machines in in the last 6 months or so with the exact same problem. The DADF is making a grinding noise. At first you think it might be the solenoid in the front but the machine tests it OK in service mode. I had a look at the way it works and thought it may be one of the gears which did look a bit suspect to me. Unfortunately as is the case most times, you can't get the individual gears for it and have to order the entire paper feed assembly
The problem occurs when the top cover is closed and a load is added to the gears below. I even went to the trouble of getting some gears 3D printed but that has not helped.
Am I wasting my time trying to figure out this issue? Help!

Put your hand on the DADF cover and test the copies.
