what is the connection issue, you are having
Did u install SST ON Laptop ??
Did u install 3220 firmware in to SST ??
Did u use a crossover cable ??
to connect to the machine's network port ??
Did u install / & check new HHD connections ?
You MUST use SAFE MODE in order to format the BOOTDEV partition of the hard drive, this will NOT be accomplished in normal mode.

SAFE MODE: Hold down the 2&8 keys while turning on the power, hold until 'download mode' is displayed ??

Each mode requires the machine be turned on while holding down different combination's of control panel keys and both modes automatically set the machine, (HOST), IP address to: 172.16.1.100. It is not necessary to make any IP address changes anywhere else on the machine. Canon recommends your laptop or workstation IP address be set to 172.16.1.10, but can be set anywhere in the 172.16.1.x range, with a subnet address of: 255.255.255.0. Once this is done, you must ensure that there is communication between the Laptop and the imageRUNNER by performing a ping. When flashing the iRC 3200 / C3220 / C2620


1. Start up PC / Laptop
2. Check the network setting for the PC / Laptop
2.1 Start command prompt. After inputting 'IPCONFIG', press the return key
2.2 Check if the network setting displayed on the screen is same as the following setting. If not, change the network setting for the PC.

IP address: 172.16.1.160
Sub netmask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: Arbitrary

Note: Do not designate the following IP address on the PC:
- 172.16.1.0
- 172.16.1.100
- 172.16.1.255

Connect the machine body to the PC with the crossing cable.

I cannot get in to 2&8 safe mode, my screen in black. I did try it but does not come up.Have laptop set to 172.16.1.160
have sst loaded, software for the ir c3220,have crossover cable, still can not connect with old or new hard drive!! How should the slave master setting be on the new hard drive? It had four sets of pins, not three like the old.

Does anyone have ahard drive with software loaded that I can buy??

I have another irc3220, can I switch that hard drive with out hurting it. We are talking about the harddrive in the copier, not the one in the printserver right?

Sorry if this is so hard for a Ricoh, Toshiba, and Konica tech!!!

important question
forget about SST and Laptop/ when u turn on 3220, do u have the small green power indicator light up on control panel ????
if not u have a power issue/ even with the old HDD u should see the power indicator on

I have the sst, and firmware, and crossover cable, with the old and new harddrive can not connect. I can ping 172.16.1.100, have set my adapter to 172.16.1.101
