Offhand,,, power down the C2, open the can, reset all the components and cables, try again. If still not coming up, a software restore seems to be in order. Those are the steps I would try...

Don't forget to pull the NVM battery out and leave it out for 10 minutes

cable reset power up tried it

We have already checked the cables, components all secure power up still getting the red lights.

I don't have the manual but isn't software reset press and hold 1 + 9 and power up? Or is that in service mode? I can't remember. Instructions for service mode entry appreciated.

The red lights your talking about are on the C2 right??

They should read 00. This is good.

I'm a bit confuse however with what your stating.

Dip switch 2&3, what is this your refering too?

1&9 is to do a defrag on the copier HDD.

    *2&8* is service mode.

Are you having a problem with the Imagepass C2 or the IRC3220

    red lights C2

The big problem is customer is in SC and I am in FL. In any event, when he was first using it, and as I recall the C2 booting up, 4 leds cycle at boot up then all go out when it is at ready.

Customer says this is correct - all leds would go out when at ready. He states the top two leds now stay on and he is unable to print. I had him check cables, power doen the up, and the two red lights on C2 still stay on.

The prblem is definately with the C2 and I think a software reset in fiery setup may do the trick? what do you think?

As stated take the cover off the imagepass and reseat everything. Removing the round battery will reset it. Rebooting wont work. Like Screwtape said it should display 00...probably showing FF.If no display on it then its a c1 (could be upgraded to c2 software)

U mean Red LED Lights on small Diag. Screen/on C2
it may be showing E3 / and Looks like 23

only one set of dip switches on C2 unit/ used for downloading software/ both in up position for service/both down for normal operation.

Only remove battery if u are showing a FF on LED window

FF - The imagePASS is not booting up. Check external and internal connections and cables.

E3 - DIMM is missing. Install or re-seat the DIMM in DDR DIMM2.

00 - The imagePASS has booted and is functioning properly.

imagePASS C2 / G1 / H1 / J1 E3 Diag Error on the imagePASS C2 / G1 / H1 / J1 If you see the E3 error code on the diag display, it means that the RAM chip [DIMM] is missing. To resolve the problem, install RAM in the DDR DIMM 2. If this chip is already there, re-seat the memory stick.

    DIAG LED SCREEN:

FF error code may occur due to one of the following causes:

    1. A power fault (surge, sag, or spike) in the line voltage supplied to the imagePASS may cause a bit in the CMOS to be incorrectly changed. Since data stored in the CMOS is backed-up by a battery, the incorrect bit setting is retained in subsequent power-ups. When the FF error is caused by a power-fault, the error can often be cleared by resetting the CMOS. This can be accomplished by removing the CMOS battery and shorting the positive and negative terminals of the battery holder.

    a. After clearing the FF error, the CMOS battery may be reinstalled. Unfortunately, if the battery is reinstalled, a future power fault could cause the same error to occur again. In order to prevent the FF error from reoccurring, the CMOS battery should be removed permanently. As the CMOS battery is responsible for retaining clock (date and time) information on the imagePASS, a patch (1-Q3WR9) has been created to allow the imagePASS to obtain date and time information from the imageRUNNER that it is currently attached to.

    b. In the future, the motherboard of the imagePASS-C2 and imagePASS-G1 will be modified at the factory in order to prevent the incorrect bit change when a power fault occurs. For imagePASS units with the modified Motherboard, removal of the CMOS battery and applying the 1-Q3WR9 patch will be optional (in those cases where the customer wants the imagePASS to synchronize date and time settings with the imageRUNNER, the patch can be used).

    2. The CPU may not be seated properly on the Motherboard. If the FF error code is caused by an improperly attached CPU, then the CPU must be reinstalled correctly in the CPU socket in order to resolve the error.
