I might as well jump in here and take a stab at it...
As I understand the problem, if you make prints from a PC, the density is fine, I assume the same with internal test prints,,, if you make a copy, then you have the light image issue. The problem has nothing to do with the laser or the rest of the print engine. The scanner is where you have the issue. clean the optics and run CCD ADJust under service mode, and the scanner issue should be corrected.
That machine doesn't even have a ccd array(MOS diode technology). Uses a contact image sensor(3 color LED technology). Funny that canon still calls the adjustment in service mode CCD adjust. Either way - Mr fixit is correct. CCD Adjust is for the CIS.
Anything can be made to work if you fiddle with it long enough- San Diego Copier Repair.com
poster has not replied to where he placed that first copy - was it on the Glass or in the DF tray- it makes a big difference
also, if it is true that he says the SCAN from the 4570 is good=it appears to look good/ did he Scan using the DF or placing it on the Glass ?? Makes a difference.
need some answers on these ??????

CCD array collects the reflected light coming through the rod lens
array.
The machine's CCD sensor is a 1-line linear image sensor consisting of 7488 photocells. After completion of
photoelectric conversion in the light-receiving block, the signals are output to the AP circuit in the reader controller
circuit board in parallel for each channel (total eight channels) of the CCD array.

The contact image sensor (CIS) is used to control analog image processing in the following flow of work:
The light reflected by the original is collected by the rod lens array;
the light is then collected by the CCD array;
the light is converted into an electric signal by the CCD array (photo-conversion) for output.
The CCD array consists of a total of 8 channels (units). Each channel possesses its own output correction table used
to process an input intensity signal for gain correction for output of an image signal

now .. i can make copies checking glass and df feeder also..
those are same problem found..
place the paper on the glass check the image rear side upside lightly .
and also same image will comes out in upper df feeder also upside light image quality...
iam showing first image copy that's have been glass and upper df feeder also.
so now what to do...
