I had been using exclusively inkjet until last year due to the infinitely lower cost per page. I run a printing business and decided to offer laser printing and since I offer it less than 5% of orders have chosen to pay the enormous surcharge (at the very least double the price) for laser prints.

I knew almost no one would want to pay extra for laser but I got it anyway as there's a book I print that can really benefit from being 100% water proof so I use it for printing that book.

Re: Why is my copier steaming?

In the interest of avoiding a 5 or 6 page thread on this subject, the simple answer is that moisture is forced out of the paper by the fuser, and condensing on the cooler areas outside of the fuser. That is concisely what is occurring.

    The end.

That was my main theory, is it bad for the printer? Should I keep the AC on to keep the humidity low and avoid this?

Yes,, the humidity in the room needs to be lowered, the paper needs to be stored in a dry place. I only see this in summer in offices, that while the offices are fairly cool, still have higher humidity. The moisture that is occurring in the copier has no way to evaporate if the relative humidity in the room is too high...

Do you have a hygrometer in the room to tell you what the relative humidity is?

    Being a printer you should.

If not, you can pick one up almost anywhere for a decent price.

Was it jail or a "special" hospital.
