I am aware that the error code is regarding the purge unit. Is there any way that I can correct this problem without having to remove or replace the purge unit?

First check if someone lubricated the Carriage Rail ??
Carriage Assembly contains bronze bushings which require no lubrication. Customers must be instructed to refrain from lubricating the Carriage Rail, and to clean any dirt, grease, or oil that had accumulated. They should always install the new rail cleaner included with each new Maintenance Cartridge, whenever the Maintenance Cartridge is changed.
Check the print count of the Purge Unit. The Purge Unit must be replaced, when the count reaches 75,000 times. Even before the Purge Unit reaches it's limit, the machine will periodically display a "Replacement Warning Indication". If it goes beyond 71,250 times, then it will go to the Error Code.
At this point the Purge Unit will need to be replaced. Once the Purge Unit has been replaced then clear the count in Service Mode > Select > Initialize > Purge > Initialize (Clear) the number of cleanings.

Thanks very much. Do you know the item number for the Purge Unit?
I changed the purge unit on a ipf8300. erreur message (2F1F) deseappeared & message on printer is now "ready", but printer doesn't receive info from the computer anymore. I reset the purge unit counter & tried to reinstalled as a new printer, but again the printer is not recognized by the computer & I cannot reinstall it. (I tried also with different cables & from a different computer. What could be the problem?
