802 means either the smtp server name or the dns server name is incorrect. For future refence, these errors can be found in the back of the user manual for send/receive.

      Hi Asi102
      try this out
      Error :

Symptom was that the machine would intermittently lock up when sending email. The machine would then have to be rebooted to bring back to functionality.

A #802 was recorded when sending within the network and #806 when sending to the internet.

      Workaround :
The solution was to increase data size to 99 for sending under:

      Additional Functions>Systems settings>Common settings>Email/I-Fax settings.

      Good Luck, Mike

        Hi,

Thank you for the replys and for the information provided.

For 11X17: I have checked the SMTP server and the DNS and, so far, I couldn't find anything. I will keep looking, expanding my investigation with other settings and tests. I have the manuals for this Canon machine and there is a "List of error codes without messages", but the problem is that this error 802 is not documented in there. Just as a note, the other error I had before (error number 752) is also not documented in there. As a result, can you please write the 'Remedy' or the 'Solution' for this error as described in your manual? Maybe that would give me some extra info... Thank you.

For Mike: Thank you for the details sent. I have found and changed the settings you're referring to but no luck: I still have the same error message 802 and the result as 'NG' - as it's recorded on the machine's log.

As stated above, I will keep trying with the SMTP / DNS settings, maybe is something wrong there...

Thank you again for your help. If there is any other suggestions, please feel free to write.

        Regards,
        Asi102

            Hi, everyone
Thanks for all useful info posted here. But i still could not make "Scan to E-mail" to work in my office.
I am using an IR3320i which connected on the network. We do not have an E-mail server just a Linksys router hooked up all computers an the modem which isp provided to us.
I don't know i can make scan2email work in this enviroment or not? If yes,
which setting i must setup? Is it similar to setup outlookexpress or different?
Any help would be appreciated. Thx inadvance!

you go into account on outlook express to get SMTP server address..usually don't need POP server..SMTP sometimes need authentication

I'm sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but I'm in almost the same exact situation asi702 was in. Did you ever get your problem solved? If so, what ended up being the problem? I'm about to pull my hair out in frustration!

Apparently the send function was working, then just stopped one day. I looked and saw that the SMTP server was an IP address, which I assume changed and started causing the error #752. I installed an SMTP server on a local server and tried to configure the printer to that server and now get error #802.

I set up a dummy email account in outlook express to make sure the problem wasn't with the server and it sent emails without a hitch. All other network functions seem to work just fine, such as printing remotely, etc. Does anybody have any ideas?

EDIT: After much frustration I finally changed the host name to the ip address of the SMTP server and got it working.

You can also try using the IP address of the SMTP server. Also, make sure that SMTP ports are not being blocked at the server. Had this one time and IT guy swore up and down that it was our brand new copier. It took two tech's to explain and convince the IT person this was problem. Try a known good e-mail account in the copier to make sure it is not the e-mail address you are using. Also, you can setup the e-mail address you are using in the copier in Outlook Express to confirm the account works and does not require authentication. Good luck.
The glass maybe half full, but less is more...
Printer + Fax + Copier = Jack Of Many Trades,
                      but Master Of None
Color Copier = Not A Color Printer
InkJet MFP = Not A Fax Machine
                      B/W Copier = Not A Press
Finisher = Deal Closer (salesman, not accessory)
Copier Tech = Admin's Stress Ball (Scapegoat)
